Money you can picture

Every US bill, whatever its value, is the same size: about 156 mm long, 66 mm wide and 0.11 mm thick, and it weighs about one gram, according to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. That makes it easy to picture big sums. A million dollars in $100 bills is 10,000 notes: a stack about 1.1 meters (3.6 feet) tall weighing 10 kilograms, or 22 pounds, which fits in a large briefcase.

In $1 bills the same million is a stack 110 meters tall, taller than the Statue of Liberty with its pedestal, and weighs a metric ton. A billion dollars in $100 bills would be a stack about 1.1 kilometers high.
