From an hourly rate to a year
Multiply the hourly wage by weekly hours, then by paid weeks. At 40 hours for 52 weeks, the quick rule is to double the hourly rate and add three zeros: $25 an hour is about $50,000 a year (exactly $52,000). Overtime under US federal rules is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate for hours over 40 in a week for non-exempt workers, and the calculator adds it separately.
If you do not get paid vacation or holidays, reduce the weeks. Two unpaid weeks off cut a $52,000 year to $50,000.
